AECI recently showcased its latest electronic initiation technology, IntelliShot X, reinforcing its focus on safer, more predictable blasting in demanding mining environments.
Designed for both surface and underground operations, IntelliShot X is a shock-resistant electronic detonator engineered to deliver precise timing in conditions where dynamic stress, interference and variability can compromise performance. The system forms part of AECI’s integrated blasting approach, combining explosives, initiation systems and digital tools to optimise outcomes across the value chain.
According to the company, the key challenge in high-shock environments lies in maintaining timing accuracy while ensuring durability and operational simplicity. IntelliShot X addresses this through a hardened design with enhanced resistance to electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic interference, supporting consistent firing even under mechanical strain.
The detonator offers programmable delays of up to 26,000 milliseconds in one-millisecond increments, enabling fine control over blast sequencing. This level of precision helps operators better manage vibration, airblast and fragmentation, contributing to more stable downstream processing.
Importantly, IntelliShot X integrates seamlessly with AECI’s existing electronic initiation ecosystem, allowing crews to adopt the technology without disrupting established workflows. The system is designed to balance resilience with ease of use, ensuring that advanced capability does not introduce unnecessary complexity on site.
