Epiroc Unveils Next-Generation PowerROC T45 for Efficient Surface Drilling

Epiroc has launched the new-generation PowerROC T45 MKII, expanding its surface drilling portfolio with a machine designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency, high availability and simplified operation.

Positioned for construction projects and quarrying applications—including aggregate, cement and limestone, the upgraded rig introduces an advanced, in-house developed control system. Central to this is an auto engine speed control function that optimises engine RPM across drilling operations, significantly reducing fuel consumption. According to the company, the new model achieves up to 40% lower fuel burn compared to its predecessor.

Operator usability has also been enhanced. A 12-inch intuitive display provides real-time data, machine status and operational guidance, while one-touch lever controls streamline both drilling and rod-changing processes. The system is designed to be easy to learn, supporting faster onboarding and improved productivity on site.

The PowerROC T45 MKII builds on the design philosophy of the PowerROC family, sharing key characteristics with the previously released T35 MKII. Its modular construction ensures straightforward servicing and maintenance, reducing downtime and supporting long-term reliability.

A notable upgrade is its expanded hole range, meeting growing customer demand for greater drilling capacity in a wider range of applications. The rig has undergone extensive field testing in recent months, with performance refinements aimed at maximising efficiency and operational output.

Available with Tier 3/Stage IIIA and Tier 4 Final/Stage 5 engine options, the PowerROC T45 MKII has been open for orders since December 2025, marking a significant step forward in Epiroc’s surface drilling offering.
