Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority has secured international technical support
Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority has secured international technical support following a mission to Washington, D.C., aimed at strengthening petroleum governance ahead of Liberia’s 2026 licensing round.
The delegation engaged key institutions including the International Monetary Fund, which signaled potential assistance in fiscal modeling and revenue management, and the U.S. Department of Commerce to enhance legal frameworks and investor outreach.
Talks with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation focused on financing options for petroleum infrastructure, while discussions with the U.S. Department of Energy advanced cooperation on regulatory capacity, data governance, and offshore safety standards.
Engagements with Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency explored risk mitigation tools to improve investor confidence.
LPRA Director General Marilyn T. Logan said the focus now is to translate commitments into concrete actions to support licensing efforts and oversight of existing contracts with TotalEnergies EP Liberia and Oranto Petroleum Liberia.
